Large office uses zero-cost behaviour change to reduce energy use
Healthy competition reduces office energy use
AMP Capital reduced their energy use by 15 per cent across seven floors with an inter-office competition. Across four months, the staff on all seven floors competed in their ‘Floor Wars’ campaign. This staff behaviour change campaign, used their intranet portal to encourage team members to adopt actions that would reduce energy use in their office.
Some actions included:
- turning-off lights when leaving meeting rooms
- shutting down their PCs at night
- avoiding using personal desk fans or under desk heaters
- switching printers to energy saver mode.
The winner would be custodian of the trophy for that month. The team with the least points at the end of the competition were designated cooks for a staff barbeque.
