WasteSMART Brisbane Awards
Recognising individuals and groups going above and beyond for our environment, helping to make Brisbane a clean and sustainable city.
About the program
Brisbane City Council’s WasteSMART Brisbane Awards recognise the achievements of residents, community groups, schools, kindergartens and businesses going above and beyond to help make Brisbane a clean and sustainable city.
The WasteSMART Brisbane Awards began in 2020 to align with Council’s Waste Smart strategy for the city. Each year, Council partners with Brisbane Sustainability Agency to deliver the annual awards, culminating in an Awards Ceremony and celebration at City Hall in November.
Brisbane City Council was proud to announce the 12 winners of the 2024 WasteSMART Brisbane Awards in November with an impressive number of nominations received this year, all of them an inspiration in reducing waste in our city.
The Awards
This year there were 11 award categories, 12 awards and a prize pool worth over $4000.
With two new categories introduced, including the Circular Threads Award and the Hospitality & Tourism Award, there were even more ways for residents, community groups, schools, kindergartens and businesses to be recognised for their vital work to reduce waste.
