Join us for the opening of the Kangaroo Point Bridge

The Kangaroo Point Bridge is opening on Sunday 15 December 2024 and you’re invited to be one of the first to walk, ride or scoot across Brisbane’s new iconic landmark.

Join us from 8-11am as we celebrate the opening of Brisbane’s newest bridge with free family-friendly entertainment including roving performers, musicians and a Welcome to Country ceremony. Opening celebrations will start at 8am, with the bridge expected to open at approximately 8.30am.

The Kangaroo Point Bridge will transform the way people travel to and from our city centre, cutting travel times and making Brisbane an even better place to live, work and relax.

During the event the bridge will be a ‘shared zone’ for the safety of all users. Cyclists and e-mobility users will be required to go slow and watch out for pedestrians at all times during the event.

Opening ceremony location

Join us as we officially open the bridge with a welcome from dignitaries and a ribbon cutting to commemorate this significant occasion. Formal proceedings will take place on the city side of the bridge (corner of Alice and Edward streets).
