Brisbane Sustainability Agency and RACQ Foundation Join Forces to Boost Flood Resilience for Local Clubs
Community and sporting clubs across South East Queensland are being urged to take action to protect their facilities from future flood events, thanks to a new partnership between Brisbane Sustainability Agency and RACQ Foundation.
The joint initiative offers clubs practical support to “build back better” after recent years of severe weather. Queensland remains Australia’s most disaster-prone state, with natural disasters costing billions annually, making resilience planning more critical than ever.
Under the program, clubs leasing facilities from local councils can access a free Flood Resilience Assessment, including an onsite inspection and a tailored recommendations report. Those who complete the assessment will also be eligible to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to implement improvements. Fifteen grants are available in this round.
“Community clubs are the heartbeat of our suburbs and towns,” said Tracy Melenewycz, CEO of Brisbane Sustainability Agency.
“Through our partnership with the RACQ Foundation, we’re empowering clubs to take practical, proactive steps to reduce flood risk and build resilience so they can recovers faster and continue serving their communities for years to come.”
Who Can Apply?
Eligible organisations include small to medium clubs, community groups, and charities located within Brisbane City, Logan City, Ipswich City, City of Moreton Bay, or Redland City Council areas.
Expressions of Interest are now open, with applications closing Friday, 19 December 2025. Clubs are encouraged to share the opportunity widely.
Since 2011, the RACQ Foundation has provided over $15 million in assistance to more than 500 community groups impacted by floods, cyclones, and droughts. In the last financial year alone, nearly $1 million was distributed to projects aimed at improving resilience and restoring essential facilities.
