Archerfield Wetlands Wins National Awards
Archerfield Wetlands has won two national awards for Land Management and Play Space at the 2025 Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture National Awards.
Brisbane Sustainability Agency has been nationally recognised for its leadership in sustainable land management and green infrastructure, taking home top honours at the 2025 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) National Awards for its work at Archerfield Wetlands Parkland.
Following its success at the Queensland state awards in June, Brisbane Sustainability Agency’s transformative work on the Archerfield Wetlands project has now earned two national accolades at the prestigious Dark: 2025 Festival of Landscape Architecture in Nipaluna/Hobart on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
Brisbane Sustainability Agency received the 2025 AILA National Landscape Architecture Award for Land Management for Archerfield Wetlands Land Management, recognising its leadership in restoring ecosystems, improving biodiversity, and creating resilient, community-focused landscapes.
In addition, the Archerfield Wetlands District Park received the 2025 AILA National Landscape Architecture Award for Play Spaces.
Delivered on behalf of Brisbane City Council, Archerfield Wetlands is a cornerstone of the broader Oxley Creek Transformation. The project showcases how ecological restoration, community collaboration, and access to nature can create resilient, biodiverse public spaces within urban environments.
“These national awards are a powerful endorsement of Brisbane Sustainability Agency’s commitment to restoring ecosystems and creating inclusive, sustainable landscapes,” said CEO Tracy Melenewycz.

Brisbane Sustainability Agency’s achievements highlight the vital role of landscape architecture in shaping healthier, more connected communities, and demonstrate how thoughtful land management can deliver lasting environmental and social benefits.
The agency extended heartfelt thanks to its partners and collaborators, including Greening Australia, Oxley Creek Catchment Association, Bushcare Services, Professor Hugh Possingham, Birds Queensland, and BirdLife Southern Queensland. Special recognition was also given to the design team led by Urbis and the construction team from Epoca Constructions for their critical roles in bringing the District Parkland to life.
