The Greenway

Discover your own adventure

Spanning 20 kilometres from the Brisbane River at Graceville to Larapinta, The Greenway is set to become one of Brisbane’s most iconic walking and cycling trails, offering locals and visitors a unique way to explore the city’s natural beauty.

Largely following Oxley Creek, the trail will wind through a variety of landscapes, including serene wetlands, open grasslands, untouched bushland, and vibrant recreational hubs. With a mix of paved and gravel paths, The Greenway will invite people of all ages and abilities to walk, cycle and connect with nature.

As the central spine of the Oxley Creek corridor, The Greenway will link key destinations and provide seamless access to side trails for bushwalking, birdwatching and environmental learning. It will also connect into the wider network of local paths, helping more people explore Brisbane’s outdoor lifestyle.

Embellished with public artwork and interpretive signage, The Greenway will contain the essential wayfinding tools and information that visitors need to navigate the entire parkland.

Progress to date

Some sections of the future Greenway have already been delivered. These include the Archerfield Wetlands Discovery Trail at Archerfield Wetlands Parkland and the Sea Eagle Lake Trail at Warril Parkland. The Sea Eagle Lake Trail is a 1.6km stretch of The Greenway that provides the ‘key southern gateway to the Oxley Creek corridor’.

Future stages

As part of the Oxley Creek Transformation Master Plan 2018, The Greenway is identified as a key project that aims to become a central spine for moving through the Oxley Creek corridor, acting as the unifying physical element for all destinations.

It is BSA’s goal to deliver the ‘Brisbane River to Archerfield Wetlands’ segment of The Greenway active transport over the next 8 to 10 years. This focus on the northern segment of the Oxley Creek parkland corridor aligns with the goal of promoting Oxley Creek as a key Brisbane recreation destination and an integral component of Brisbane’s outdoor lifestyle offerings.
